The lawyer Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis named to head the Division of Administrative Hearings, which houses the workers' compensation court system, has resigned, four months after a Senate panel declined to consider his appointment.
Chief Judge John MacIver, who had been criticized as inexperienced and ill-qualified, said in a letter dated Monday that he would step down June 19. He will now serve as chief counsel for the state's chief financial officer, whose office oversees the state Office of Insurance Regulation and the Division of Workers' Compensation.
