A Southern California radiologist who prosecutors say turned down a plea deal last year was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a kickback scheme that a federal judge said called into question the necessity of some of the services provided to injured workers.
U.S. District Judge Cynthia Bashant on Monday ordered Dr. Ronald Grusd to spend the next decade in prison and pay a fine of $250,000. Bashant also ordered two companies Grusd owned or controlled, California Imaging Network and Willows Consulting Co., to each pay a fine of $500,000, plus a $15,600 special assessment.
