Plant Owner Gets Summary Judgment Dismissing Claims by Subcontractors' Injured Employees

A Texas appellate court ruled that a chemical refinery owner should have been granted summary judgment dismissing civil suits filed by subcontractors' employees who were injured in an explosion at the facility. On July 31, 2019, a tower exploded at Baytown's ExxonMobil's Olefins chemical plant. According to local news sources, 66 people sought treatment for injuries that were not life-threatening.
