Physicians at the University at Buffalo have started testing a new treatment for concussions that involves exercise rather than rest.
“Until recently, the standard of care ... has been to tell individuals who have suffered concussions to go home and rest until the symptoms go away,” Dr. John Leddy, principal investigator and medical director of the UB Concussion Management Clinic, said in a news release. “Our research has demonstrated that some activity is actually necessary to promote recovery.”
