Pennsylvania lawmakers have proposed amending the utilization review process to require accreditation of firms assessing the appropriateness of medical treatment requests in the state’s workers’ compensation system.
House Bill 881, which was referred to the House Labor and Industry Committee on Monday, would mandate that requests for UR in injured worker claims be assigned only to organizations that are nationally accredited to handle utilization review issues for workers’ comp programs.
