West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice signed a bill creating an intermediate court that will hear appeals of final orders from the Workers’ Compensation Board of Review.
Justice on Friday signed Senate Bill 275, by Senate President Craig Blair, R-Berkeley, to create an Intermediate Court of Appeals by July 1, 2022.
The appellate court will consist of three judges, initially appointed by the governor. Among other things, the intermediate court will have jurisdiction over work comp disputes.
The bill will also modify how comp cases proceed.
