Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has appointed Atlanta attorney Terry Chastain as an appellate judge and director for the state Board of Workers' Compensation, the governor's office announced this week.
Chastain has been the general counsel to the speaker of the Georgia House since 2013, and was previously vice president of government affairs for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
He replaces Judge Elizabeth Gobeil, whom Deal named to the Georgia Court of Appeals last month.
Chastain earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from Georgia State University. His appointment is effective July 1.
