California Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed over potential cost concerns a bill that would have allowed county and special district park rangers to receive full-pay salary continuation benefits in lieu of temporary disability.
SB 1058, by Sen. Angelique Ashby, D-Sacramento, would have extended 4850 benefits to about 200 rangers currently employed by cities, counties and subdivisions of the state. Supporters said the measure would create pay parity for rangers by providing the same benefits as are offered to other law enforcement officers who perform similar duties.
