The Texas state House of Representatives on Friday voted 116-24 to pass a bill that would create a presumption that COVID-19 is compensable for any state-licensed nurse diagnosed with the disease on or after Feb. 1, 2020.
House Bill 396, Rep. Joe Moody D-El Paso, would presume COVID-19 arose out of and in the course of employment for nurses who diagnosed with the disease within 14 days of being assigned to treat infected patients.
Nurses who refuse vaccinations without a medical reason would not be eligible for the presumption.
