The Rhode Island Judicial Nominating Commission has chosen five finalists for two seats on the state’s Workers’ Compensation Court.
The candidates are Keith Cardoza, Monique Desormier, Susan Pepin Fay, Hagop Jawharjian and Kevin Reall, the Providence Journal reported. The commission sent the names to Gov. Gina Raimondo last week.
The two vacancies were created by the retirement of Judges Debra Olsson and Hugo Ricci Jr.
Cardoza is a partner with Izzo, Gardner & Cardoza, where his practice focuses on workers’ compensation matters, including representing self-insureds and insurance carriers in litigation relating to the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act.
Desormier has worked for the last year as agency counsel at Fidelity National Title Group.
Fay has been representing employers and insurers in workers’ compensation matters in Rhode Island and Massachusetts courts, and before the U.S. Department of Labor, since 1997.
Jawharjian, a sole general practitioner, focuses on workers’ compensation and general litigation.
Reall, also a sole practitioner, focuses on negligence and workers’ compensation matters from the employee’s perspective.
