QME Arrested in National Crackdown on Medicare Fraud

Twelve Los Angeles residents, including the second-largest Medicare biller for chiropractic services in California, were arrested last week for submitting $22 million in bills for services that were never provided, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced.The arrests are part of what the FBI is calling a nationwide takedown by the Medicare Fraud Strike Force that has brought charges against 89 individuals for $223 million in fraudulent claims.The FBI said Houshang Pavehzadeh, of the Sylmar Physician Medical Group, billed Medicare more than $1.7 million for chiropractic treatments he never...
