WC Board Suspends Doctor After Money-Laundering Indictment

Friday, March 23, 2018 | 0

The New York State Workers’ Compensation Board has suspended a pain-management doctor’s authorization to treat injured workers after he was indicted on money-laundering charges.

Dr. Todd Sloan Koppel, of Mount Kisco, allegedly submitted more than $4 million in fraudulent bills to insurance companies and was indicted by a New Jersey grand jury March 6, the board announced this week.

“Therefore, the chair believes that Dr. Koppel may be guilty of misconduct, and that such misconduct would detrimentally affect the quality of care provided to injured workers,” Board Chair Clarissa Rodriquez said.

The suspension remains in effect until further notice.
