Charles A. Regnell, the presiding judge of the California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board district office in San Bernardino, died on Saturday after a brief illness. He was 70.
Attorneys who tried cases before Regnell remembered him as a kind man with a love of puns and an office filled with model roadsters.
"He was my pun master," said applicants' attorney Nancy Wallace of San Bernardino. "I always had to come up with a pun for him. He always had a pun for me. He was always up for a joke."
